Care Provision
Care can be provided for up to 48 hours or for 72 hours over a weekend or bank holiday. This enables someone to stay safely in their own home until the emergency is over or other care arrangements can be made.
Eligibility
To be eligible, the carer must be providing regular and substantial care for an adult who:
- is either frail, has an illness, disability, sensory impairment or dementia.
- lives at home in West Sussex
Available Help
The service is provided by trained staff who are able to take over the caring role. This might include support with:
- washing
- dressing
- getting to the toilet
- eating and drinking
- generally keeping the person safe and comfortable
What constitutes an emergency?
A carer may have to suddenly go into hospital or perhaps may have an accident. Maybe a carer's close relative is taken ill or a carer needs support to attend a funeral of someone close. It could be there is a real risk to the carer's job on a particular occasion.
The emergency respite service is not intended for day to day respite care, short breaks, non emergency situations such as social occasions or hobbies or as replacement care when a home care provider has not turned up.
Crossroads Care can provide a regular respite service at an hourly charge should that be required..
